This is another type of central air conditioning unit. The main difference between the both is it does not consist of a 1:1 ratio for indoor and outdoor units. Packaged air conditioning units are best for people having small homes or no space for accommodating large indoor ACs.

The plus point for packaged air conditioners is that they consist of two in one ratio. So you can easily adjust it outside your small home. 

3. Ductless Mini-Split

Now let’s talk about the ductless split air conditioning units. As we have already discussed above, these air conditioning units have one indoor unit and one outdoor unit.

4. Ductless Multi-Split

A ductless multi-split air conditioning unit is just like central AC. The main difference is that ductless ACs do not have ducts. Other than that, you can install up to five indoor units in correspondence with only one outdoor unit.

Components of Air Conditioning Units

1. The Evaporator

The air conditioning evaporator is one of the main working components of AC. The evaporator is the basic indoor unit of your air conditioner. It is used to collect the warm air from your space. In return, it will provide you with the air having optimal temperature and humidity. 

2. The Compressor

After the evaporator collects heat, it goes into the compressor. The compressor then acts as the pump in your air conditioning unit. It decreases the volume of the gas and increases the temperature and pressure of the gas more than the outside temperature. 

Once the temperature is raised above the outside temperature, the gas then moves towards the condenser. 

3. The Condenser

The condenser is the “outdoor unit” of your air conditioner. The main job of the condenser is to move the collected warm air from your room to the outside air. 

4. The Expansion Valve

After moving the heat outside from the outdoor unit, the cold refrigerant again moves towards the evaporator unit to repeat the whole process. But the air at this point still has a high temperature to enter the evaporator unit.

In this regard, the expansion valve cools down the temperature of the air coming back from the outdoor unit. After that, it moves the air to the evaporator to repeat the process.
